October 21, 2006: Boston, Massachusetts.

No lifeguard on duty. Our campground was on the beach in Salem and we took the light rail into Boston.

The Harvard kids get their own natural history museum. Turns out a brown bear is distinct from the Grizzly, and the moose is the largest member of the deer family.

Provincetown, Cape Cod. Pilgrims summered here back in the 17th century. Now gay folks do.

Oct 18, 2006: Boston, Massachusetts.

Stacey stands below the famous brewer-patriot in front of the antebellum Faneuil Hall (Note: Antebellum in this city means pre-Revolutionary War).

October 15, 2006: Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

Not too hard to get a beachfront RV spot this time of year. This place even closes down its McDonald's after summer.

October 14, 2006: Camden, Maine.

It's getting colder, and we're headed to Florida, along with all the other RVing retirees. It should take us about 6 weeks to get there and we'll pretty much follow the coast all the way down.

October 11, 2006: Cape Split, Nova Scotia.

Lorry and Karin took us to the Minas Basin, home of the highest tides in the world. The low tides, as you can see, are bad for watersports.

But when the tide comes in, you can go out and ride bore waves. Just below where Stacey and Lorry sit, the tide rose about 43 feet in 6 hours.
October 7, 2006: Bar Harbor, Maine.

We are now official USA crossers. We logged 7,500 miles from the Southwest to the Northeast. Mapquest says the distance is only 3,200 miles, so it seems we took the scenic route.

Lorry and Karin Widger (Thom's dad and his wife) moved to Bangor recently, and the four of us drove out to the coast for the day to see Acadia National Park.

October 6, 2006: White Mountain Nat'l Forest, New Hampshire.

We're used to the uni-season in Los Angeles, so this is a special treat for us.

October 4, 2006: Burlington, Vermont.

Autumn has arrived here in New England. We had heard that the nicest foliage to see is up near the Ben & Jerry's factory. Booyakasha!
October 2, 2006: Alexandria Bay, New York.

We crossed back into the U.S. in the Thousand Lakes region near Lake Ontario. Seems the thing to do to buy an island, build a small mansion and then summer here.

September 30, 2006: Toronto, Ontario.

Mitchell and Dongju are good friends that Thom met in Pusan, Korea. We met up with them and their wonderful kids, Hanna and Jaeson. As it turned out, Hanna is a fellow 'housecar' enthusiast. When she gets out of school, she's joining the caravan.

September 27, 2006: Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The falls are pretty impressive, but the town that has grown up around them is so tacky (wax museums, casinos, and TGIFs) that we didn't stay too long.

September 25, 2006: Ann Arbor, Michigan

We tried to pass for 18 and crash some dorm parties, but couldn't pull it off. It's a plenty nice town for old folks too tho.
